Meditation

 

Meditation has shown to be one of the most powerful ways to reduce stress.  It is a state of thoughtless awareness that enables a person to exist in the present moment instead of dwelling on the unchangeable past or uncertain future.  We are either in this state or we are not, regardless of what we are doing in life.  A person can be in meditation while doing their day's labor as another person can be very far from meditation while sitting in lotus posture on top of a mountain.  True meditation is a state of profound, deep peace that occurs when the mind is calm and silent yet completely aware.  This state takes us to a higher level of awareness enabling us to fulfill our full human potential.

 

Meditation is not deep concentration on one object or thought.  It is not a loss of control of the mind into a field of random thoughts, nor is meditation a series of exercises that will bring you to enlightenment.  It is just another tool to be learned and cultivated as you continue on your path to living you most authentic life.
